Scope and Contents New London, Connecticut was one of the major publishing centers in colonial America. Printing in New London dates to before 1710 when Timothy Green migrated from Boston to open a business in the city. For the next century he and his descendents would dominate printing in New London and Connecticut, serving as the official printer of Yale University and of the colonial government in Hartford. Collection of carbon copies of circular typed letters sent to members of the Erbslöh family. Carbon copies number consecutively from 23 to 64 with several missing. Carbon copies contain extracts and summaries from letters of family members, chiefly those serving in the German army and others who had emigrated to North America. The letters were composed by C[arl] Hugo Erbslöh.
